Olena Klyucharova
Olena Klyucharova (M.Mus, B. Mus) was born in Ukraine. She graduated from the Classical Department of the Glier State Music College of Kiev, where she studied with Olena Verykivska (1995), the Tchaikovsky National Music academy, where she studied with Igor Riabov (2000) and awarded a Masters of Music Degree in Pedagogy and Performance from Kiev University of Culture and Art (2007).
She is a scholarship winner of the "New Names" competition and a third- prize winner in the All-Ukrainian Chopin Competition; she was also awarded the diploma prize at the First International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz (1995). She made concert trips to the United States in 1991 and 1996 and to France in 1994.
Since arriving in Canada in 2002, Olena has been actively performing at the K-W Chamber Music Society, Centre in the Square (Kitchener), Maureen Forrester Hall (Waterloo), River Run Centre (Guelph), and Roy Thomson Hall (Toronto).
She is especially devoted to playing chamber music, and frequently collaborates with instrumentalists and singers. She is accompanying the Kitchener-Waterloo Philharmonic Chamber Choir and has been featured in Grand Philharmonic Choir concerts for a number of seasons.
Aside from performing, Olena is an active and dedicated piano teacher whose students excel in festivals and RCM examinations.
